Step inside history at the McConchie One Room Schoolhouse, located at the Charles County Fairgrounds in Charles County. Built in the 1900's for African American students in grades 1–7, this living museum preserves powerful stories of resilience, and community. Learn how dedicated volunteers rehabilitated the school and now welcomes visitors, student groups, and families—including those from Charles County Public Schools—to experience what education was like over a century ago. Visit during fairground events or schedule a private tour to keep this history alive.
